NORFOLK, Va. (February 15, 2023) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its men's and women's tennis weekly honors where Howard University saw three Bison earn recognition for their performances over the weekend. The announcement came Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomores Marcel Dawson (Columbus, Ga.) and Sifa Butcher (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) won MEAC Players of the Week while newcomer Selah Stibbins took home the league's Rookie of the Week accolade.

Dawson won his singles and doubles matches Friday (Feb. 10) against UDC. The Georgia native defeated the Firebirds' Antonio Simo Durall in straight sets (6-1, 6-2). In doubles, Dawson and junior Justin Cadeau (West Orange, N.J.) took down UDC's top doubles team, 6-4.

Sunday (Feb. 12), Butcher also won her singles and doubles matches at Lehigh. The Florida product knocked off the Mountain Hawks' Megha Dania in straight sets (6-1, 6-4) while pairing with senior Yemisi Ifederu (London, England) in doubles competition to win, 7-5.

In singles play, Stibbins served as the Bison's No. 3 player and won in straight sets (6-1, 6-2). She also teamed up with second-year Bison and reigning MEAC Player of the Year Jordan Grayson (Gaithersburg, Md.) to win, 6-4, in doubles competition.
