Bowling Struggles at the James Brown Invitational

Bison unable to get into a rhythm in Towson

TOWSON, Md. (February 12, 2023) – Howard University women's bowling team struggled to find its rhythm at the James Brown Invitational, hosted by Morgan State University in Towson, Md.

Overall, HU went 1-11 during the three-day span while taking on several top 25 teams.

On opening day, the Bison went 0-4 in Baker play with a pair of losses to No. 24 Morgan State (764-970) and No. 2 North Carolina A&T State (780-962).

The next day, HU competed in six traditional matches where they were unable to pickup a win. Despite the setbacks, junior Aleyana DeBrest (Philadelphia) led the way, producing 1,035 pinfalls and rolling a season-best 230 against No. 15 Mount St. Mary's.

Newcomer Cameren Sullivan (Chicago) continues to shine in her first season, averaging 173.2 in the six matches.

On the final day, Howard participated in two Baker best-of-seven matches.

In the opener, HU defeated Bryant in five games (4-1), but fell in the nightcap to Alabama A&M in six (4-2).

On Feb. 18-19, the Bison's season continues in Greensboro, N.C., for the second MEAC Roundup, hosted by the Aggies.
