NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. (January 29, 2023) – Howard University women's bowling squad started slow after a long, winter break, but finished strong at the Hawk Challenge, hosted by conference rival Monmouth University.
Overall, the Bison went .500 (5-5) in 10 matches (five Baker & five Traditional).
In traditional play, HU picked three victories over Molloy (815-766), Bloomfield College (788-768) and Bryant (810-790).
Freshman standout
Cameren Sullivan (Chicago) finished ninth overall after rolling a 173.0 in five matches. The Chicago product posted two 200-game in the win against Molloy (201) and setback versus Bryant in the first matchup (204).
Junior
Aleyana DeBrest (Philadelphia) and newcomers
Sydney Allison (Ypsilanti, Mich.) and
Janae Pugh (Chicago) placed 11
th (167.0), 16
th (156.6) and 17
th (155.4), respectively, in traditional play.
After day one, the Bison struggled in Baker play with a 2-3 mark. HU earned victories over St. Francis-Brooklyn (823-767) and William Smith College (746-636).
No. 25 Merrimack (MC) and Monmouth went 9-1 overall. MC's Oliva Lampkin placed first overall (193.20), registering three 200-games over the weekend.
On Feb. 4-5, HU travels to New Castle, Del., for the Griffin Classic, hosted by Chestnut Hill College.
