NORFOLK, Va. (May 12, 2022) – Howard University men's track and field team sits in fourth place at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Championships, scoring 15.5 points on day one.
 
Majority of the Bison's points came in the 10K-meter run, led by senior Gavin Williams (Dover, Del.) with a third-place finish (32:58.54) while tallying six points. Fellow classmate Ayoade Adebiyi (Virginia Beach, Va.) and rookie Tafari Stephenson (Bowie, Md.) also competed where they took fourth (33:21.45) and seventh (35:34.26), respectively, combining for seven points.
 
In the discus throw, graduate Yaw Sackey (Apex, N.C.) and junior Christopher Bratcher (Richmond, Va.) came away with points after taking seventh (41.35 meters) and eighth (40.32 meters), respectively.
 
Senior Kameron Davis (Miami) advanced to Championship Saturday after earning an automatic qualifier in the 400-meter hurdles (53.60). Fellow classmate Corinthians Payne (Apopka, Fla.) and third-year Bison Cameron Kee (Lawnside, N.J.) joined Davis with non AQ times of 54.07 and 54.67, respectively.
 
Saturday's (May 14) race starts at 2:05 p.m.
 
In the 200-meter dash, Georgia natives Zachary Hawkins (Loganville) and Ashton Daniel (Athens) each moved to the final round after running non automatic qualifying marks of 21.86 and 21.90, respectively.
 
Saturday's final round commences at 3:20 p.m.
 
Norfolk State leads the way with 34 points, followed by Morgan State (22) and North Carolina Central (18), respectively.
 
The decathlon and heptathlon finish Friday (May 13) at 9 a.m. to kick off the day's action. Running events will start at 2:50 p.m., with the preliminaries of the women's 100-meter hurdles. The men's 3K-meter steeplechase ends the day at 6 p.m.
