SOMERSET, N.J. (November 1, 2022) – The Northeast Conference (NEC) revealed its women's soccer postseason honors where Howard University saw a pair of Bison recognized by their peers. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon.
Sophomore
Rachel Asare (Tampa, Fla.) received All-NEC Second Team while newcomer
Bre'Elle Dean (Huntingtown, Md.) earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team.
Asare started 13 contests for the Bison, finishing third on the squad with three total goals.
For Dean, the Maryland native competed in all 16 matches, including 15 starts.
Fairleigh Dickinson sophomore forward Aitana Martinez-Montoya won NEC Offensive Player of the Year while Central Connecticut State senior midfielder Roma McLaughlin claimed Midfielder of the Year.
Sacred Heart junior goalkeeper Elyssa Kipperman took home NEC Defensive Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year while teammate freshman Morgan Bovardi received Rookie of the Year.
Merrimack head coach Gabe Mejail earned NEC Coach of the Year.
Despite not making the tournament, head coach
Brent Leiba and the Bison look to rebound from this season and prepare for the 2023 campaign.
