SMYRNA, Del. (October 29, 2022) – Howard University women's cross country team won the 2022 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship at the Delaware State Outreach & Research Center in Smyrna, Del., hosted by Delaware State University.
With the victory, HU captured its first title since 2005 (eight overall).
Fifth-year senior Melanie White (Orlando, Fla.) led the Bison with a third-place finishes, clocking in at 18:48.6.
Sophomore Camille Egbula (Simpsonville, S.C.) and senior Breanna McDonald (Bethesda, Md.) earned fifth (19:05.0) and sixth (19:13.2), respectively, while second-year Bison Joslyn Crosby (Bossier City, La.) and newcomer Jordyn Miller (Mundelein, Ill.) rounded out the top 10 at eight (19:27.8) and 10 (19:35.5).
Senior Dasia Wilson (Philadelphia) recorded a 19:57.4 mark, taking 13th overall.
For their efforts, all six Bison earned All-MEAC recognition. The top 15 finishers were named All-MEAC.
In his first full season, cross country head coach Wesley Stephens was named MEAC Outstanding Coach.
Norfolk State's Mercyline Kimayio was selected MEAC Outstanding Performer after winning the individual title with a 5K time of 18:02.3 – the MEAC's fastest time this season.
Howard focuses its attention to the upcoming indoor season.
