NEW ORLEANS (January 27, 2022) – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross County Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) uncovered its All-Academic Teams for the 2021 NCAA Division I Cross Country season where Howard University saw its women's squad earn recognition for their hard work inside the classroom. The announcement came Thursday.
Overall, the Bison women accumulated a 3.51 grade point average (GPA), including the most recent grading period.
"At Howard University, we take a lot of pride in our student-athletes being just as serious in the classroom as they are on the field of play," said Howard Director of Track & Field
David Oliver. "The women's cross-country team maintaining a GPA of 3.51, while simultaneously producing incredible results on the course this fall was a testament to all of their hard work. I couldn't be prouder of this group of young women."
Overall, there were 168 different programs who were named All-Academic Teams for their efforts during the 2021 season.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.
Cross Country returns Fall 2022.
