Bethlehem, Pa. (September 19, 2021) – Howard University men's tennis team competed in the Lehigh Invitational, hosted by the Mountain Hawks, where they picked up a pair of doubles win over the weekend.
DAY 1
In singles play, senior
Kyle Martin (Kingston, Jamaica) topped Monmouth's (MU) Sasha Pachnev in a tough three-set win (7-6[4], 3-6, 10-7).
Third-year Bison
Romani Mayers (Bridgetown, Barbados) dropped a three-set contest to MU's Gabe Busato (6-2, 5-7, 8-10).
DAY 2
Mayers and sophomore
Justin Cadeau (West Orange, N.J.) edged out Monmouth's Gabriel Busato and Christof Zeiler (8-7[2]).
Newcomers
Marcel Dawson (Midland, Ga.) and
Daniel Dunac (Washington) defeated the Hawks' Lucca Silva and Trent Massam (8-5).
In singles competition, Dawson fell to Lehigh's Matt Kleiman in three sets (7-6 [5], 2-6, 4-10).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On Oct. 14-17, the Bison travel to nearby Annapolis, Md., for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regionals.
