NORFOLK, Va. (April 21, 2021) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) unveiled its 2021 men's and women's tennis postseason awards, presented by TowneBank, where Howard University freshman
Justin Cadeau (West Orange, N.J.) earned All-MEAC Second Team. The announcement came Wednesday afternoon.
The All-MEAC Teams and individual accolades were voted on by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors.
Cadeau served as the squad's No. 2 singles player early in the season until he was inserted into the No. 1 slot. From there, the New Jersey native excelled and won his last two individual matches in Baltimore against Loyola (April 16) and Coppin State (April 17).
He enters the MEAC Tournament unbeaten in doubles competition (5-0), recording four victories with fellow classmate
Gabe Knowles (Wind Gap, Pa.).
Norfolk State (NSU) senior Andres Alcaraz was named MEAC Men's Player of the Year while North Carolina Central's Stipan Madzar took home Rookie of the Year. NSU's Larry Holmes and South Carolina State's (SCSU) Hardeep Judge shared the Men's Coach of the Year honors.
On the women's side, SCSU's freshman Rachida Berjane won MEAC Women's Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year while Holmes was also named women's Coach of the Year.
HU men finished the regular season with a 2-3 overall mark (1-1 MEAC) and set to take on South Carolina State in the MEAC Tournament Semifinals in Norfolk, Va. First serve is scheduled for noon.
