WASHINGTON (April 10, 2021) – Howard University men's tennis team meets crosstown foe Georgetown (GU) at The Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's (WTEF) East Capitol Campus in Southeast D.C. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
MATCHUP PREVIEW
Saturday's showdown will be the first meeting between the crosstown rivals in nearly a decade. The match was originally scheduled for March 27.
HOWARD
HU (0-2) seeks to get into the win column for the first time this season while building momentum towards a late playoff push. With only one league match remaining on the horizon (April 17 at Coppin State), the Bison are geared to qualified for the conference tourney in Norfolk, Va. (April 24-25).

Romani Mayers (Bridgetown, Barbados) arrives unbeaten in singles plays (2-0) while newcomer
Pierce Westbrook (New Orleans) grabbed his first collegiate victory in singles competition against Norfolk State (April 2).
Fellow classmate
Justin Cadeau (West Orange, N.J.) has a pair of doubles wins with Westbrook and Mayers as partners.
GEORGETOWN
GU (4-9) enters the weekend looking to snap its six-match skid. Georgetown's last contest was March 12 in a 0-7 loss against conference rival Marquette.
LAST TIMEOUT
Friday (April 2), Howard men's tennis team lost to Norfolk State, 2-5, in Southeast D.C. Mayers captured victories in singles and doubles competition and remains unbeaten in singles play this season (2-0).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On April 16-17, both teams travel up the Beltway to meet Loyola (Md.) and conference foe Coppin State. Friday's contest (April 16) versus the Greyhounds start at 3 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. match time for Saturday's (April 17) clash with the Eagles.
