SOMERSET, N.J. (November 4, 2021) – The Northeast Conference (NEC) uncovered its women's soccer postseason honors where Howard University freshman
Melea Earley (La Mirada, Calif.) received recognition for her outstanding rookie campaign. The announcement came Thursday afternoon.
The California native earned All-NEC Second Team and All-Rookie Team.
In her first season with the Bison, Earley led the conference in multiple categories, including points per match (1.29) and goals per match (0.57).
On the season, she started all 14 matches while racking up eight goals and a pair of assists. Earley recorded two multi-goal performances in the home wins over Bryant (Sept. 23) and LIU (Sept. 30).
Central Connecticut State (CCSU) Roma McLaughlin was voted NEC Midfielder of the Year and teammate Erica Bardes took home NEC Defensive Player of the year honors. CCSU head coach Mick D'Arcy was named the NEC Coach of the Year.
Fairleigh Dickinson (FDU) Aitana Martinez-Montoya was voted as both the NEC Offensive Player of the Year and NEC Rookie of the Year. Fellow Knight and classmate Malene Nielsen was named the NEC Goalkeeper of the Year.
Howard looks to build upon this season and prepare for the 2022 campaign.
