PENSACOLA, Fla. (February 23, 2020) – For the second consecutive season, the Howard University women's bowling team clinched a spot at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship in Chesapeake, Va., after securing the No. 6 seed.
"This is a great achievement," said Howard women's bowling head coach
Ron Davis after Sunday's baker matches. "We earned this and we're looking forward to the challenge in Virginia."
Friday (Feb. 21) saw HU suffer a pair of tough losses against nationally ranked North Carolina A&T State, 910-913, and Maryland Eastern Shore, 828-835, in baker style matches. Jahnia Phillips (Elmont, N.Y.) led the way with 878 total pinfalls, including 198 against No. 22 Monmouth. Junior captain
Carolyn Williams (Glen Burnie, Md.) and senior

HU finished Saturday on a high note with an 835-621 win over Bethune-Cookman.
The momentum continued into Sunday's (Feb. 23) best-of-seven baker style matches, defeating tourney host Florida A&M in six games (4-2). Howard ended the weekend falling to No. 21 UAB in five (1-4).
On March 20-22, Howard heads to the 2020 MEAC Championships in Chesapeake, Va.
