Ron Davis

In 2004, Ron Davis joined the Howard University Women's Bowling program as an assistant coach before taking the reigns as head coach the following season (2005).

Since taking over the program, Davis has coached over a dozen All-MEAC honorees.

Despite the 2019-20 campaign cut short due to COVID-19, Howard reached the MEAC Tournament for the second consecutive year after winning a program-best 50 matches, including 10 victories over National Tenpins Coaches Association (NTCA) opponents. Four Bison made the 2020 MEAC Women's Bowling All-Academic Team: Janae Bradford; Jahnia Phillips; Jayla Webster and Carolyn Williams.

During the 2018-19 season, Tea Lewis earned All-MEAC Third Team honors while Shykeia Spinks and Carolyn Williams made the league's All-Academic Team.

Four Bison were recognized for their dedication off the lanes during the 2017-18 year: Tea Lewis; Kristyn Mitchell; Sydney Reece; and Shykeia Spinks. That same year, Mitchell and Reece was selected to the 2018 MEAC All-Conference Third Team.

During the 2016-17, Trinity Yates picked up All-MEAC Second Team honors, followed by Justice Davis and Kristyn Mitchell on the All-MEAC Third Team.

Three members of the program were honored by the conference as members of the 2014-15 All-Academic Team: Gia Betha: Enijah Smith-Joe; and Joyelle Mills.

After the 2013-14 campaign, Alexzandria Johnson was named to the 2014 All-MEAC Second Team. Additionally, Johnson, Chantal Mitchell and Enijah Smith-Joe were selected to the 2014 MEAC All-Academic Team.

Davis has been a youth bowling coach for over 30 years. He has taught hundreds of women and men the basic and advanced skills of bowling. Many of his youth bowlers have received collegiate scholarships, including 2006 Howard University graduate, Shawntia Alexander. 

He received his training from professional bowlers including Dick Ritger, John Myers and Billy Slater.

A D.C. native, Davis attended Calvin Coolidge High School and took courses at the University of the District of Columbia.
