GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 20, 2026) – Howard University women's bowling team opened the 2026 MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Tournament with an upset win over Delaware State (DSU) in Greensboro, N.C.
HU entered the tourney as the No. 6 seed after going 6-8 in league play, including a pair of losses to DSU.
Howard took a 1-0 match lead after topping the Hornets in traditional play, 960-896.
DSU rebounded, edging out the Bison in Baker competition, 918-909, thus, forcing a deciding Baker best-of-seven showdown.
HU defeated Delaware State in the winner-take-all clash, 4-1, and moved on to Friday afternoon's matchup against No. 19 UAB.
UAB, No. 2 seed in the MEAC Tournament, swept the Bison with wins in traditional play, 881-770, and Baker competition, 917-837; thus, dropping HU to the loser's bracket.
Saturday (March 21), HU looks to stay alive against rival Morgan State in the MEAC Tournament. Match time is slated for 9 a.m., in Greensboro, N.C.
