Howard Men’s and Women’s Tennis to Take on MEAC Opponent Norfolk State


NORFOLK, Va.- Howard men's and women's tennis will travel for the second time this week, taking on Norfolk State on Saturday, March 30 at 1 p.m. This will be the second conference opponent of the season for the Bison. Both Bison tennis teams defeated Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) opponent Coppin State on March 20.

LAST TIMEOUT
Both the men's and women's teams fell on the road to Loyola (Md.) on Wednesday. The men's team ultimately lost 4-3; however, they were victorious in some of the matches. The duo of Roger Lyn and Karim Shokeir won their doubles match, 6-4. Lyn, Shokeir and Cole Gittens also won each of their singles matches.

The Howard women's team was shutout, 7-0 but the combination of Aria Ragas and Dominique Jackson teamed up to win a doubles match.

SERIES HISTORY
Since 2015, Howard men's tennis has faced off against Norfolk State three times. The Bison have yet to defeat the Spartans in those three meetings. In that same span, Howard women's tennis has split their four games against Norfolk State over the past four years. They defeated the Spartans last year, 4-1.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Howard men's tennis will travel to Morgan State on April 6 for a conference game. Matches for that game will begin at 1 p.m. Howard women's tennis will also travel to face conference opponent Maryland Eastern Shore on April 2 at 2 p.m.
