Howard Men’s Tennis to Compete at JMU and NCCU


WASHINGTON (February 28, 2019) - The Howard University men's tennis will team travel to James Madison University and North Carolina Central this weekend. The JMU match begins at noon on Friday, March 1. The NCCU match is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 2. 

LAST TIME OUT
In their last match, Howard men's tennis was defeated by Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), 7-0. Howard was outscored 18-5 by VCU in all three double matches. In singles No. 3, Karim Shokeir took one game against Philip Mobius but Mobius won the set. Cole Gittens was defeated by VCU freshman Rayane Stable in two sets.

SCOUTING THE DUKES
James Madison won their most recent match. The men's tennis tent went 3-1 in tiebreakers and beat Longwood 4-3 on their East Campus Tennis Courts. The Dukes improved to 7-2.

JMU took No. 2 and 3 doubles at 6-4 to clinch the doubles point.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
The Eagles were defeated by the UNC Asheville Bulldogs, 7-0. The Bulldogs won all five singles matches in straight sets. NCCU only had five active players due to injury and had to forfeit the last singles and doubles matches. The Eagles dropped to 0-3.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE
The Bison travel to Orlando, Florida on March 11 for their next.
