Box Score HOUSTON (November 7, 2019) – Top seed Howard University women's soccer team advanced to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament Semifinals after eliminating No. 8 Southern, 1-0, in the tourney quarterfinals.
With the win, HU improved to 13-3 while the Jaguars end their 2019 campaign with a 4-12-1 mark.
Sophomore
Arianna Morgan (Oklahoma City, Okla.) scored the match-winning goal at the 20-minute mark to advance HU into the semifinals.
Howard controlled the tempo throughout, outshooting Southern, 19-6, while granted 11 corner kicks.
Senior
Alayah Hightower (Largo, Md.), 2019 SWAC Goalkeeper of the Year, registered her 11 shutout of the season while recording a pair of saves in the win.
For the Jaguars, Chioma Eriken had a match-best seven saves in the loss.
HU awaits the winner between No. 4 Alabama A&M and No. 5 Grambling State. Match is set for Friday (Nov. 8) at 4 p.m. (ET)/3 p.m. (CT).
