WASHINGTON (October 2, 2019) – After months of preparation, the Howard University women's bowling team released its 2019-20 schedule, featuring nine tournaments across the East Coast.
"I feel really good about this season," said Howard women's bowling head coach
Ron Davis when asked about the upcoming season. "[We] have five returners, including four starters from last season, and picked up a promising freshman in
Vanessa Johnson out of Chicago."
During the Howard Homecoming festivities, the Lady Bison start their season in Reading, Pa. at the Kutztown Fall Baker (Oct. 12-13).
"Since we will not be in attendance for the homecoming festivities, we want to bring back victories to our fellow Bison" said junior captain
Carolyn Williams (Glen Burnie, Md.). "We have been working hard individually during the offseason and [we're] prepared to come back this season stronger than ever."
The following weekend Howard travels to Frederick, Md. for the Mount St. Mary's Shootout (Oct. 19-20), then goes to Glen Allen, Va. to bowl in the Virginia Union Invitational (Nov. 1-3).
The next event features HU competing in their first conference meet in Glen Burnie, Md., hosted by Coppin State (Nov. 8-10). Afterward, they will return home for a week before heading to North Carolina to take part in the Aggie Invitational, hosted by North Carolina A&T State (Nov. 15-17).
The Lady Bison open the New Year in Pennsylvania, this time in Limerick for the Kutztown Invitational (Jan. 17-19).
On Feb. 8-10, the Bison will be in Sinking Springs, Pa. for the Golden Bear Classic. HU continues the month at the James Brown Invitational in Towson, Md. (Feb 14-16) and closes out the month with the second Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) meet in Pensacola, Fla. (Feb. 21-23).
Women's bowling finishes out their season with the MEAC Championship in Chesapeake, Va. (March 20-22).
"We have multiple tournaments this season that are close to campus," Davis added. "We look forward in seeing our Bison family cheering us to victory [because] one extra HU voice in the audience always helps."
