NORFOLK, Va. (September 29, 2026) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its women's bowling preseason team where Howard University sophomore
Soraya Brinson (Akron, Ohio) made the cut. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon.
A year ago, Brinson registered a 38-percent strike percentage in 315 frames during the regular season. In 17 traditional matches, the Ohio native recorded 3,112 total pinfalls with a 183.1 average. At the MEAC Meet No. 2, she rolled a career-high 224.
Joining Brinson on the preseason team included Mariane Almeida (Maryland Eastern Shore), Amina Hall (Delaware State), Hannah Perry (Delaware State), Ryan Starke (Delaware State) and MEAC Preseason Player of the Year Victorya White (North Carolina A&T State).
Additionally, the league unveiled its preseason poll where HU and Coppin State were projected to tie for sixth place after tallying 27 points.
North Carolina A&T State was unanimously picked to win the MEAC Title, scoring 88 points (all 11 first-place votes). Maryland Eastern Shore was selected second with 67 points, followed by UAB (66 points), Delaware State (62 points) and Morgan State (45 points). Norfolk State (14 points) rounded out the field.
The preseason team and predicted order of finish were determined by a vote of the conference's bowling head coaches and sports information directors.
HU opens the season in October 2026.
