WASHINGTON (April 8, 2018) – Howard University Women's Tennis team suffered a tough loss against the Morgan State (MSU) Lady Bears, 4-3, at the Banneker Recreation Center.
 
With the setback, HU saw its brief two-match winning streak come to an end.
 
MSU held the upper hand after doubles play, winning two-out-of-three contests, 1-0.
 
In singles competition, juniors Nicole Hutchison and Kindha Nasef pave the way with three-set victories. Hutchison defeated Morgan State's Peggy Rooke (6-4, 3-6, 6-3) while Nasef knocked off MSU's Dana Santiago (6-4, 5-7, 6-2).
 
With today's win, both Bison have won three straight singles matches.
 
Freshman Yassmine Khiri was re-inserted into the lineup after missing Thursday's match at Coppin State. The Morocco native served as HU's No. 2 player where she topped the Lady Bears' Alexus Gill in straight sets (6-4, 6-3).
 
Junior Christina Joynes and Morgan State's Oriane Yehouenou was the match of the day. After dropping the first set, 1-6, Joynes rebounded and forced a third set, 6-4. In the deciding set, Yehoueneou regained the momentum to win the match, 3-6, while putting MSU over HU.
 
On April 15, HU women conclude its road slate at Longwood. Match time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
