WASHINGTON (February 3, 2018) – Junior
Nicole Hutchison and freshman
Yassmine Khiri each won their respective singles matches, but the Howard University Women's Tennis team came up short against Loyola (Md.), 5-2, at The Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's (WTEF) East Capitol Campus.
Khiri entered Saturday's contest as HU's No. 2 player while the Houston native served as Howard's No. 3 singles competitor.
Hutchison and Khiri defeated Loyola's Amanda Lanciano and Lin Robertson, respectively, in straight sets (6-4, 6-2).
In doubles play, Hutchison and newcomer
Nathalie Finch joined together and knocked off the Greyhounds' Lanciano and Kateri Martin, 6-4.
HU women host Mount St. Mary's (Feb. 9) and James Madison (Feb. 10) at the WTEF East Capitol Campus. Both matches are set for noon.
