Smyrna, Del. (October 27, 2018) – Director of Track and Field
David Oliver and the Howard University Men's & Women's Cross Country teams ended its 2018 campaign at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championships. The event took place at the Delaware State University Outreach and Research Center in Smyrna, Del.
The men placed sixth overall while the women claimed fifth.
Sophomore
Destiny Stanford (Woolwhich Township, N.J.) led the way for HU, earning a spot on the All-MEAC Team for the second consecutive year. The New Jersey product took eighth in the women's 5K race, recording a 19:41.24 mark.
The top 15 finishers in each race were named to the All-MEAC Team.
Other notables on the women's side include junior
Sydney Benson (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) and freshman
Essence Baker (South Brunswick, N.J.). Both Bison ran season bests while finishing in the top 30.
For the men, second-year runner
Anthony Gordon (Clinton, Md.) ended his sophomore year with a top 20 perfomance (28:52.30). Fellow classmate
Malik Kosanovich (Lawrenceville, Ga.) competed in his second race of the year, posting a time of 29:09.40.
Senior
Tariq Fullerton (Fullerton, Jamaica) wrapped up his cross country career with a top 25 finish (29:37.00). The Jamaica product had an outstanding senior year, registering two top 3 performances, including a victory at the Howard Labor Day Classic (Sept. 1).
North Carolina A&T State men and Florida A&M women won their respective titles. Bethune-Cookman's Carlin Berryhill and Norfolk State's Martha Bissah were selected MEAC Outstanding Performers.
