WASHINGTON, DC --- Over the weekend, the Howard tennis teams each faced a pair of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponents and came away with a combined 3-1 record against Maryland Eastern Shore, North Carolina Central and Coppin State.

WTEN 7, UMES 0

The Lady Bison completely dominated the Lady Hawks in their first game of the weekend on Saturday. Howard only allowed UMES to win three total games across the nine singles and doubles matches in a strong opening to MEAC conference play. Every player on the roster was involved in at least one shutout victory.

WTEN 6, CSU 0

Howard produced more of the same on Sunday afternoon against the Lady Eagles, producing a second shutout in as many games. Overall, the match was more competitive but the Lady Bison still managed to win each flight in straight sets, including shutouts at No. 5 singles (Maame Osei) and No. 1 Doubles (Stacey Roheman/Umarah Mughnee).

MTEN 1, NCCU 6

The lone setback between the two programs over the weekend came against the Eagles in an interdivision matchup. Ishmael Kaouache earned the Bison's only win, taking No. 1 singles in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4

MTEN 6, CSU 0

HU bounced back quickly and when it mattered most, taking their MEAC opener against Coppin. Like the women, the Howard men won each matchup in straight sets and also earned shutouts at No. 5 singles (Nico Sorrell) and No. 2 doubles (Sorrell/William Jones III).
