TOWSON, MD --- In the final Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference meet of the season, the Howard women's bowling team put on their best showing of the season. The Lady Bison took third place at the league meet and posted several noteworthy performances.
Howard finished in a three-way tie for first on Day 1 of the meet, going 4-1 in Traditional Play with wins over Hampton, Coppin State and Morgan. The highlight win of the day was the Lady Bison's 1,118 to 1,101 victory of Maryland Eastern Shore. UMES, the standard bearer of the MEAC, would eventually win the event and earn the No. 1 seed in the upcoming MEAC Tournament. The Lady Hawks have one loss on their record - their loss to the Lady Bison.
All five bowlers that saw action posted game high of over 200, led by sophomore
Trinity Yates' 255 in against UMES. Yates posted a total pinfall of 1,059 while junior
Moneshia Smith was second in both categories with a 1,037 total pinfall and a high of 253. In Baker play, the group of Yates, Smith,
Gia Bethea,
Justice Davis and
Kristyn Mitchell nearly posted a perfect game, falling just two pins shy (298) in the final game of their win over Hampton.
The Lady Bison will travel to Tennessee for their final event of the regular season before the MEAC Tournament, the Vanderbilt Columbia 300 Music City Classic from March 6-8.
