UPDATED STATSEPHRATA, PA --- The Howard University women's bowling team continued its recent surge of solid play over the weekend by capturing a pair of third place finishes at the two-day Capital Classic meet, hosted by Delaware State at the 222 Dutch Lanes in Ephrata.

Trinity Yates, playing in only her second event of the season with the team, led the Lady Bison in total pinfall (1,077) and highest individual game score (255 vs Hampton). Yates' pinfall is the second highest overall total of the season, behind senior
Gia Bethea's 1,099 pinfall at the UMES Hawk Classic in mid-November. Her 255 score surpassed the team's previous high of 233 set by junior
Moneshia Smith (at the season-opening Hampton Roads Invitational in October) and Bethea (at the second MEAC North meet in December).
Overall, Yates was one of three Lady Bison to record a pinfall of over 1,000 during the event - Bethea posted a 1,076 - only one pin shy- and freshman
Kristyn Mitchell had 1,057. Smith narrowly missed the mark by bowling a 948 in traditional play.
Howard went undefeated against Saint Peter's (2-0), Hampton (1-0) and Morgan State (1-0), won three of four against Cheyney (including a 96-83 Baker bowl-off after being tied at 892), split a pair of games against New Jersey City University and lost a match to both St Francis Brooklyn and host Delaware State.
HU returns to action in two weeks when the Lady Bison travel to North Carolina A&T for the Aggie Invitational from February 20-22.
