Box Score BALTIMORE, MD --- Howard men's soccer fell in their third consecutive road game of the season, losing to the Loyola Unversity (MD) Greyhounds 1-0 on Tuesday evening.
The game was delayed nearly two hours because of a weather stoppage.
Despite the loss, Howard (0-3) took some positives from the match. While Loyola (1-1) outshot the Bison 9-5, Howard held a 5-1 lead in corner kicks, showing their aggressive in their offensive zone. Also, the team was able to produce quality shots, as three of their five total shots were on goal.
Loyola scored the lone goal of the contest in the 22nd minute as sophomore Laurin Voegel connected with senior Connor Thompson for the eventual game winner.
Howard's best scoring opportunity came in the 35th minute when freshman forward
Kyle Celestine headed a cross toward goal from inside the box that was saved by Loyola goalie Matt Sanchez.
The rain delay began shortly after, starting at 7:52 p.m. and lasting until 9:47 p.m.
The Booters will look to earn their first win of the season out west when Howard participates in the Johann Memorial Classic at UNLV. The Bison will take on CSU Bakersfield on September 5 at 7:30 p.m. Eastern and the host Rebels on September 7 at 4 p.m. Eastern.
