CHICAGO (October 1, 2026) – Howard University men's soccer team grabbed its first conference win of the season, grabbing a 2-1 road victory at Chicago State.
HU got on the board first with freshman
Xavier Sharp (Auraro, Colo.) finding graduate
Calien Thomas (Ithaca, N.Y.), 1-0.
CSU (0-9, 0-2 NEC) responded immediately after intermission with Jorge Valle scoring his first goal of the year, 1-1.
With time dwindling, junior
Rayce Welborne (Lawrenceville, N.J.) delivered the go-ahead score at the 78-minute mark, thanks to an assist from freshman
Barry Souare-Wooten, 2-1.
Overall, Howard outshot the Cougars, 21-17. Sharp led the Bison attack with five shots attempts (two shots on goal).
Senior goalie
Liam Keiller (Gaithersburg, Md.) anchored the backline, tallying eight saves in 90 minutes of action.
The Bison (3-7, 1-1 NEC) return home Sunday (Oct. 4) to take on Mercyhurst at Greene Stadium. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m.
