DURHAM, N.C. (September 22, 2026) — Howard University men's soccer team held a halftime lead, but the Duke Blue Devils scored three times after intermission to top HU, 3-1, in Durham, N.C.

Zach Simmons (Rockwall, Texas) put HU ahead, 1-0, thanks to an assist from fellow classmate defender
Rayce Welborne (Lawrenceville, N.J.).
Moments after intermission, Duke tied the contest, 1-1, with a score from Ethan Congleton.
At the 63-minute mark, Kai Aina gave the Blue Devils their first lead, 2-1.
With time dwindling, Sol Arbib added an insurance goal to put the match out of reach.

Liam Keiller (Gaithersburg, Md.) played nearly 80 minutes, tallying 11 saves in the loss.
Sunday (Sept. 27), HU hosts Central Connecticut State in its conference opener. Match time is set for 1 p.m., at Greene Stadium.
