CAYCE, SC --- Howard women's tennis saw its stellar 2014 campaign come to a close as the Lady Bison fell to South Carolina State University 4-1 in the semifinals of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championships on Saturday morning at the Cayc Tennis & Fitness Center.

The North 1-seed Lady Bison finished their season with 13-5 overall record after winning the division with an unblemished 5-0 record. SCSU, the South 2-seed and defending MEAC champions, will face South 1-seed Bethune-Cookman University on Saturday, April 19 for the conference title.

Senior Brooke Hawthorne was able to earn HU's lone point by defeating the SCSU's Dakota Brown at No.5 singles, 6-0, 6-2.

The Bulldogs earned their victory by defeating Howard at Nos. 2 & 3 doubles and Nos. 2-4 singles.
