Jaymie Cox scored a pair of goals to lead the Howard women's lacrosse team in a losing effort as the Lady Bison were beaten by Duquesne University, 22-4, on Wednesday afternoon at Rooney Field. Howard's record falls to 0-2 while Duquesne improves to 1-0 with the victory.
Cox, a first-team All-Atlantic Sun (A-Sun) selection in 2013, connected on both of her shots in the game, scoring her first goals of the year late in the second half (22:33, 12:11).
Senior midfielder
Courtland Lackey scored Howard's first goal of the game with 49 seconds remaining in the first half. Her tally was her team-leading fourth goal of the year. Lackey also led the team with three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.
Freshman midfielder
Taylor Spencer logged her first career point with an unassisted goal last than 90 seconds into the second period (28:21).
Senior attack
Cynithia Smalls did not score a goal but did record a point thanks to an assist on one of Cox's two goals.
Howard will look to rebound on Saturday, February 22 when the Lady Bison take on Binghamton University at 3:00 pm.
