CHEASAPEAKE, VA --- The Howard University women's bowling team opened its 2014-15 campaign this weekend, competing in the six-team Hampton Roads Invitational at the AMF Lanes in Cheasapeake, Virginia.
The Lady Bison finshed with a 3-7 overall record, going 2-3 during Traditional play and 1-4 during Baker play.Junior
Moneshia Smith earned a place on the All-Tournament team after recording a pinfall of 947 over 5 games (189.40 avg) with a high of 233 during Traditional Play. Smith's average was the second highest average of the tournament.
Howard's two Traditional victories on Saturday came against Chowan University (788-556) and Bowie State University (778-722) while their three defeats were against Elizabeth City State University (845-873) and fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) members Morgan State (743-844) and host Norfolk State (793-899).
The Lady Bison swept Chowan in Sunday's Baker match 4-0 and held a 3-2 lead over Morgan before falling to the Bears, 3-4. HU would concede its other matches to Bowie State (2-4), NSU (1-4) and ECSU (0-4).
Howard wll serve as host of the first MEAC North meet on November 8-9 at the AMF Capital Plaza Bowling Center in Hyattsville, MD.
