Box Score WASHINGTON, DC --- Howard University honored three of its women's soccer senior student-athletes before their home finale on Sunday afternoon against New Jersey Institute of Technology. The three seniors -
Owyn Manson,
Selena Mason and
Sydney Ross were each presented with photo posters and flowers as their parents accompanied them to center pitch and all were greeted by Howard Director of Athletics Louis "Skip" Perkins.
The trio all played well in the final home contest of their careers, but it would come in a loss as a NJIT goal with 17 seconds remaining in the game sealed a 1-0 win for the visiting Highlanders. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Lady Bison.
Overall, Howard (6-7-10) and NJIT (7-10) mirrored each other in shots on goal (five each) and the former Great West Conference foes & current independents went scoreless through the first 89 minutes. However while Howard's final attempt in the 89th minute by Manson was saved, NJIT's last chance on goal - at the 89:43 mark - gave the visitors the lead and the win.
Junior goalkeeper
Kyra Dickinson made four saves on five on-goal shoots in 90 minutes of action.
Howard will complete the season with the road component of a NJIT home-and-home, playing the Highlanders in Newark, NJ on Friday, November 1 at 7:00 pm.
