WASHINGTON (September 8, 2026) – Howard University senior goalkeeper Trinity Knox (Atlanta) and graduate quarterback Ja'Shawn Scroggins (Las Vegas) were named McDonald's Athletes of the Month for August.

Knox kept the goal on lockdown during the month of August. In the season opener against George Washington (Aug. 19), Knox set the tone, deflecting all nine shots she faced and surpassing last year's season. She carried that momentum into the following match at Florida Atlantic (Aug. 27), tallying ten saves. Living up to the nickname "Fort Knox," she anchored the defense for 354 minutes throughout the month, going the full 90 minutes in three of four matches.

Scroggins made an early statement with his performance in August. During the 2026 Cricket MEAC/SWAC Challenge Kickoff in Atlanta, Scroggins passed for a career-high 315 yards, including an 83-yard game-winning drive to give the Bison the advantage over Alabama A&M (Aug. 29) in the final minutes. The Las Vegas native also picked up an additional 49 rushing years. Scroggins' efforts helped Howard redeem themselves from the last Challenge in 2022 where they were defeated by the Bulldogs.
