NORFOLK, Va. (March 2, 2026) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) unveiled its women's basketball weekly awards where Howard University senior forward
Zennia Thomas (Cleveland) won the league's Player of the Week. The announcement came Monday afternoon.
In the victories over Coppin State (Feb. 26) and Morgan State (MSU), Thomas averaged 16.5 points and 9.0 rebounds over a two-game span. After posting a double-double (11 points & 10 boards) against the Eagles, she led HU with 22 points and eight rebounds at MSU (Feb. 28).
This season, Thomas leads the MEAC in scoring (15.4 ppg), rebounding (7.8 rpg) and field goal percentage (.457) while ranking among the country leaders in free throws made (21
st in the nation) and free throw attempts (10
th in the nation).
Freshman standout
Ariella Henigan (Chicago) earned honorable mention after racking up 21 points, five rebounds and a pair of steals in the road victory at Morgan State.
Delaware State guard Amya Scott was named MEAC Rookie of the Week while teammate Ericka Huggins earned Defensive Player of the Week.
Howard travels to Norfolk, Va., to take on the second-place Spartans Thursday (March 5) at 5:30 p.m. It ends the regular season for both teams with the MEAC Tournament kicking off Wednesday (March 11) at the Norfolk Scope Arena.
