WASHINGTON (October 29, 2026) — A new season brings an opportunity for the Howard University women's bowling team to build on last year's success and compete for its first MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) championship in program history. As the Bison prepare for the 2026–27 season, the team will look to their prior experience with new talent while working toward a stronger outcome this year.
SEASON OUTLOOK
Last season, Howard finished sixth in the MEAC with a 6-8 conference record. Despite its challenges, the Bison picked up noteworthy victories over nationally ranked UAB and Delaware State. With several returning bowlers, including Preseason All-MEAC selection sophomore
Soraya Brinson (Akron, Ohio), and incoming freshmen joining the roster, Howard will look to bring these skills into the new season.
The Bison open competition Oct. 30-Nov. 1 at the Virginia Union Invitational in Midlothian, Virginia. Their fall schedule also includes the Duquesne Invitational (Nov. 6-8), CSU Lady Eagles Invitational (Nov. 14-15) and Jersey Jamboree (Nov. 20-22). These early tournaments will give Howard an opportunity to find its groove and prepare for conference games.
Howard returns to action in January before heading into the heart of its MEAC schedule in February.
The team will then turn its attention to the MEAC Championship, scheduled for March 19–21 in Raleigh, North Carolina. With postseason opportunities ahead, the Bison will look to make each competition count as they work toward another successful season.
For Howard, the goal is to keep growing, compete with confidence and continue building the program's presence in collegiate bowling.
