BRIDGEWATER, N.J. (May 13, 2025) – The Northeast Conference (NEC) uncovered its men's golf postseason teams and major awards where Howard University saw a pair of Bison recognized for their outstanding seasons. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon.
Fifth-year Bison
Marcus Smith Jr. (Rockford, Ill.) earned All-NEC First Team while sophomore
Mathis Perroni (Metz, France) took home All-NEC Second Team.
Smith competed in 10 tournaments before regionals, averaging 73.6 strokes per round with his lone top 10 finish coming at the NEC Tournament (April 24-26). For his efforts, he was named to the All-Tournament after tying for fourth overall.
For Perroni, he took part in 11 tournaments before regionals while averaging 75.0 strokes per round. The Frenchman registered two top 10 finishes, including the NEC Tournament where he tied with Smith for fourth place.
LIU swept the major awards. Arjun Singh Bhatia won NEC Player of the Year while Tom Winn claimed the league's Rookie of the Year. Sharks head coach Ben Belfield received Coach of the Year.
HU wraps up the NCAA Amherst Regional Wednesday (March 14).
