NORFOLK, Va. (April 7, 2025) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its softball weekly awards where Howard University swept all three accolades. The announcement came Monday.

Alyssa Vasquez (Eastvale, Calif.) was named MEAC Player of the Week while fellow classmate pitcher
Mia Gonzales (Atwater, Calif.) claimed Pitcher of the Week. Freshman outfielder
Lauryn Jones (Denton, Texas) took home the league's Rookie of the Week.
In the season sweep versus Delaware State (DSU), Vasquez went 5-of-10 (.500) with four RBIs and three runs scored. In the game two win, she went 2-of-3 with four RBIs, including a three-run triple.
Gonzales threw a complete-game shutout against the Lady Hornets, allowing only two hits while striking out a career-high eight batters in the game one victory.
Jones batted a scorching .778 (7-of-9) with four runs scored in three contests versus Delaware State. The Texas product extended her hitting streak to four after recording three hits apiece in Saturday's (April 5) doubleheader.
Currently, Howard sits atop of the MEAC standings with a 11-1 league record (17-17 overall), riding a six-game win streak into the weekend.
On April 12-13, Howard faces Coppin State (CSU) in a MEAC three-games series in Baltimore. Saturday (April 12), HU takes on CSU in a doubleheader at 1 p.m., followed by a seven-inning contest Sunday (April 13) at noon.
