WASHINGTON (April 6, 2025) – Howard University men's golf team will be competing in the Irish Creek Collegiate (April 7-8). The tournament will be held at The Club at Irish Creek, in Kannapolis, N.C. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is hosted by Appalachian State.
The opening two rounds will take place Monday (April 7) with a shotgun start at 8:30 am. The closing round will take place Tuesday (April 8) with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

HISTORY
Last year, The Irish Creek Collegiate was also held at The Club at Irish Creek (April 8-9) where Jacksonville State placed first, shooting 3-under par (837). Howard did not participate in this tournament last year.
TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
The Club at Irish Creek is a private course in Kannapolis, N.C. In 1954, the golf course was originally the Cannon Country Club built. In 2007, it was later remodeled by Davis Love III, Monroe Maulden, and Paul Cowley. It features 7,099 yards, par-71 with a 74.3 rating and 137 slope. The course is a premier golf destination in North Carolina.
This year's tournament participants include Howard, Appalachian State, Western Kentucky University, Morehead State University, Charleston Southern University, Marquette University, Francis Marion University, North Carolina A&T State University, Old Dominion University, Presbyterian College, Radford University, Queens University of Charlotte, UNCG, Jacksonville State University and Lehigh University.
LAST TIMEOUT
On March 28-29, the team finished 26
th overall, shooting 48-over par (888) at The Goodwin. The tournament was located at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif.
Fifth-year
Marcus Smith Jr. (Rockford, Ill) led the Bison, shooting 11-over par (221) while tying for 97
th overall.
