WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 25, 2025) – Howard University men's golf team remains in second place after Day Two of the NEC (Northeast Conference) Championships, held at the Kingsmill Resort (par-71, 6,831 yards) in Williamsburg, Va.
On Day Two, HU shot 2-over par (286). After two rounds (36 holes) of play, the Bison are 3-over par (571) with one round remaining.
Sophomore
Mathis Perroni (Metz, France) sits in sole possession of second place, firing 3-under par (139) in 36 holes of action. The Frenchman shot 1-under par (70) in round two with four birdies, including back-to-back on holes 17 and 18.
Fifth-year Bison
Marcus Smith Jr. (Rockford, Ill.) moved up the player leaderboard, tying for fifth place. In two rounds, he shot 1-under par (141), including a 70 (-1) in round two with three birdies on the front nine.
Rookie
Cassius Blake (Birmingham, England) rounded out the top 10, recording even par (142) in two rounds of play. The Englishman has produced back-to-back 71 (E) rounds.
Sophomore
Bear Huff (Riverside, Calif.) is tied for 19
th overall, registering 7-over par (149) after Day Two.
In round two, second-year Bison
Kezaia Dimosi (London, England) subbed in for fellow classmate
Mitchell Grey (Mississauga, Canada), who shot an 86 (+16) on Day One. Dimosi finished the afternoon 4-over par (75).
For the second straight day, LIU leads the way after increasing its margin from two strokes to seven strokes over Howard.
Individually, FDU's Pyae Phyo Thu grabs the upper hand after firing 3-under par (68) on Day Two. He holds a two-stroke lead (137, -5) over Perroni with one round to go.
The NEC Championships conclude with round three Saturday (April 26), beginning at 8 a.m., in Williamsburg, Va.
