NORFOLK, Va. (April 14, 2025) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its softball weekly accolades where Howard University freshman standout
Lauryn Jones (Denton, Texas) took home the league's Rookie of the Week award for the third time this season. The announcement came Monday.
Jones went 4-of-7 with three runs scored, three stolen bases and two RBIs in Sunday's (April 13) twinbill sweep at Coppin State (CSU). In the series opener, she scored twice with two stolen bases against CSU. In the nightcap, she went 3-of-4 at the plate with two RBIs.
This year, Jones leads the MEAC with 24 runs scored.
Norfolk State junior Emory Shorts was named MEAC Player of the Week while Delaware State sophomore Kristin White garnered Pitcher of the Week.
On April 18-19, Howard faces Morgan State (MSU) in a MEAC three-games series in D.C. Friday (April 18), HU takes on MSU in a doubleheader at 1 p.m., followed by a seven-inning contest Saturday (April 19) at 12:30 p.m. on Senior Day.
