COLLEGE PARK, Md., RALEIGH, N.C. & AUSTIN, Texas (March 29, 2025) – Howard University women's track & field team continued its dominance during the outdoor season, taking part in three meets across three states: Texas Relays (March 27-29); Maryland Invitational (March 29) and Raleigh Relays (March 27-29).
TEXAS RELAYS
On the track, juniors
Kiya Lawson (Montclair, N.J.) and
Zoe Turner (Mableton, Ga.), sophomore
Mackenzie Robinson (Ypsilanti, Mich.) and
Brooke Cochran (Silver Spring, Md.) claimed gold in the 4x200 relay, clocking in at 1:33.40.
The 4x400 relay squad of graduate
Ariana Smith (Pennsville, N.J.), juniors
Kiya Lawson (Montclair, N.J.) and
Aniya Woodruff (Harrisburg, N.C.) and newcomer
Lindsay Johnson (Detroit) took second overall with a 3:33.89 mark.
Individually, graduate
Marcia Sey (London, United Kingdom) claimed the top spot with a 12.76 time in the short hurdle (100-meter).
Rookie
Cenaiya Billups (Denver) won the 400-meter hurdles with a 59.95 mark.
In the field, junior
Ija Mumford (Winston-Salem, N.C.) placed seventh in the long jump (5.53 meters) while fellow classmate
Jazmyn Wajd (Tampa, Fla.) competed in the triple jump, landing seventh on the leaderboard (12.04 meters).
Other notable performance included DMV native graduate
Erin Hatcher (Silver Spring, Md.) shattering the program benchmark in the hammer throw, tossing over 195 feet (59.71 meters).
MARYLAND INVITE
On the track in College Park, senior
Jasmyn Hunter (Flossmoor, Ill.), sophomore
Nadia Jacobs (Chesapeake, Va.) and freshman
Jasmen Walker (Flossmoor, Ill.) finished first (14.38), second (14.42) and fourth (15.20), respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles. The Virginia native also competed in the 100-meter dash, earning bronze with a 12.61 time.
In the field, junior
Temi Banwo (Allen, Texas) and
Kinnidi Hampton took part in the discus throw where they placed third (41.31 meters) and sixth (35.58 meters), respectively.
RALEIGH RELAYS
In Raleigh, senior
Camille Egbula (Simpsonville, S.C.), junior
Jordyn Miller (Chicago) and newcomers
Tiffany Mugubi (Houston) and
Kendall Robinson (Bowie, Md.) represented Bison Nation in the 4x400 relay, producing a 3:45.32 mark.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
The program is set to host the Bison Classic in D.C., along with Gallaudet University Saturday (April 5).
