LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 28, 2026) – Howard University women's track & field squad got underway on Day Two of the NCAA Outdoor East Regional with three Bison advancing to the quarterfinal round.
Senior
Aniya Woodruff (Harrisburg, N.C.) and sophomore
Cenaiya Billups (Denver) highlighted the afternoon, each running personal bests in the 400-meter hurdles. The North Carolina native advanced with an automatic qualifying (AQ) mark of 55.75 while the Denver product also notched an AQ time (56.13).
Saturday's (May 30) quarterfinal race is slated for 7:25 p.m.
Junior sprinter
Yahnari Lyons (Hampton, Ga.) made her mark Thursday's evening, securing spots in the 100-meter dash (11.34) and 200-meter dash (22.64). Fellow classmate
Mackenzie Robinson (Ypsilanti, Mich.) also competed in the 100-meter dash, but fellow short of reaching the next round.
The 100-meter dash quarterfinal starts at 6:35 p.m., and the 200-meter dash begins at 7:50 p.m.
Senior
Lauren Thompson (Frisco, Texas), sophomore
Tiffany Mugubi (Houston) and rookie
Nilijah Darden (Greensboro, N.C.) each made their NCAA postseason debuts but came up short in advancing.
All-American and national champion contender graduate
Marcia Sey (London, United Kingdom) failed to advance due to a false start in the 100-meter hurdles first round.
Second-year Bison
Lindsay Johnson (Detroit) was a late scratch for Thursday's action. She was scheduled to compete in the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles.
