NORFOLK, Va. (March 17, 2025) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its softball weekly accolades where Howard University sophomore utility player
Angel Riggins (San Diego) claimed the league's Player of the Week award. The announcement came Monday.
In the series sweep over North Carolina Central (March 15-16), Riggins batted .500 (5-of-10) with five runs scored, four RBIs and a pair of doubles.
This season, Riggins leads the MEAC with eight doubles.
Freshman infielder
Lauryn Jones (Denton, Texas) earned honorable mention after hitting .333 (4-of-12) with four runs scored against the Eagles.
Lashea Morlu of South Carolina State was named MEAC Rookie of the Week while Delaware State's Kristin White was selected Pitcher of the Week.
Tuesday (March 18), HU (9-13, 3-0 MEAC) meets Hofstra in a midweek nonconference showdown at Washington Nationals Youth Academy. First-pitch is slated for 10 a.m.
