NORFOLK, Va. (February 18, 2025) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its women's basketball weekly honors where Howard University freshman standout
Saniyah King (Washington) collected her ninth Rookie of the Week award. The announcement came Monday (Feb. 17).
The D.C. native led HU to a perfect 2-0 week with road victories at Maryland Eastern Shore (Feb. 10) and Delaware State (Feb. 15), averaging 11.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists. King filled the stat sheet in Princess Anne, posting 11 points, seven boards and six dimes. In Dover, she notched 11 points, five assists and four rebounds against the Hornets.
Graduate guard
Destiny Howell (Queens, N.Y.) received honorable mention after averaging 15.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in the wins.
Coppin State forward Laila Lawrence was named MEAC Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week.
Howard begins the first of four road games Saturday (Feb. 22) when it travels to Baltimore to take on the Lady Bears of Morgan State at 2 p.m.
