WASHINGTON (February 10, 2025) – Howard University women's basketball team travels to Princess Anne, Md., to face Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.

Saturday (Feb. 8), junior forward Zennia Thomas (Cleveland) poured in a game-high 25 points to lead four Bison in double figures as HU defeated North Carolina Central University, 81-64, at Burr Gymnasium.
 
UMES
 
UMES (8-13, 3-3 MEAC) is coming off a 66-61 home loss to Coppin State Monday (Feb. 1). The Hawks were led by Mahogany Lester with 16 points and 12 rebounds and Ashanti Lynch (10 points) and Zamora Harper (11 points off the bench).
 
SERIES RECORD
 
Last meeting, Howard defeated UMES, 64-48, in Princess Anne, Md. (March 2, 2024). The Bison have won six-in-a-row. The Hawks last won 66-59 (Feb. 5, 2022). Howard leads the series, 24-15, since the 2004-05 season.

Destiny Howell (Queens, N.Y.), the sharpshooting graduate guard, is now 13th on the all-time Howard scoring list with 1,252 points and needs 65 points to move up to 10th all-time in school history…Howell has made 29-of-her-last 31 from the charity stripe and recorded a made at least one three-pointer in all but two games this season....Howell is on schedule to have a career season in assists...Howell has scored 20 points or more six times this season...Freshman guard Saniyah King (Washington), the favorite for MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Rookie of the Year, has been named Rookie of the Week eight times this season...King leads the MEAC in assists (106)…King has dealt out 32 assists in the past five games and reached double figures in scoring in the past eight games...Thomas has also been valuable to the team during its current rise, recording 65 points and 39 rebounds in the past five games…Thomas leads the team in doubles-doubles this season (4)....junior forward Nile Miller (Haddonfield, N.J.) has come on strong of late, tallying 40 points, 32 rebounds, seven steals and seven blocks during the current five-game span while making 23-of-her-last-45 shots…redshirt sophomore guard Tyana Walker (Leawood, Kan.), one of the premier three-point shooters in the MEAC, has begun to come alive at the right time, connecting on 11-of-her-last-18 shots, including 9-of-13 from three in the past five games…Senior forward Vanessa Blake (Summerville, S.C.), who now comes off the bench, has given the Bison a spark with 30 points and 11 rebounds in the past four games.
 
HAWK NOTES
 
The loss to Coppin State snapped a three-game win streak for the Hawks…During the win streak, the Hawks limited their opponents to 51 points while averaging almost 70 points per game…UMES is outrebounding its opponents (+6.0) and almost 10 steals per game…The Hawks are committing 21 turnovers per game and allowing six three pointers per game.
