WASHINGTON — Howard University women's basketball team has added three signees to the 2026–27 roster.
"These three young women embody character, leadership and talent — qualities we value deeply in this program," shared Coach Grace.
Indiah Hutchinson — 5'11 Guard, Hammond Central HS (Hammond, Ind.)
Stats: 16 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 2.2 apg, 3.1 spg, 1.6 bpg
Hutchinson joins Howard after a stellar career at Hammond Central, where she became the school's all-time leader in points, rebounds, assists and blocks.
When asked about the Indiana native, Coach Grace shared, "Indiah is a skilled, three-level scorer who can create her own shot and break down defenses. She's a big guard who will cause problems for our opponents with her strength and athleticism."
Hutchinson surpassed 1,000 career points as a junior, led her team to its first-ever sectional championship, and earned more than 20 NWI Player of the Game honors.
"She is soft spoken, but she has a strong game. I know she will be a true leader and ambassador within the Howard community. I'm excited to see her grow and excel in our program."
A member of the Team Evans Jordan Brand/EYBLS program, Hutchinson also won the Jordan Brand THE ONES Challenge (Chicago) and was a national finalist for the event.
Kiara Green — 6'5 Center, Century HS (Hillsboro, Ore.)
Stats: 15.6 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 3.0 bpg, 1.7 spg
One of the top players in the Pacific Northwest, Green enters The Mecca ranked as the No. 4 player in Oregon's Class of 2026.
"Kiara will be a tremendous presence in our front court. She is long and athletic with good hands and can run the floor well. At 6'5, I was impressed with her ability to score and alter shots on the defensive end. Her size and ability will give us many advantages inside," said Grace.
She reached 1,000 career points, 650 career rebounds and 250 career blocks as a junior, while earning First Team All-League, Honorable Mention All-State honors and League Co-Defensive Player of the Year recognition.
Green owns multiple Century HS record-book entries, including top-five marks for single-game scoring (34 points), single-season scoring (444), defensive rebounds (181) and blocked shots (109).
"She is an outstanding student and has all of the tools to be successful on and off the court. I can't wait to coach her and watch her thrive in the Howard culture," added Grace.
Kennedy Deese — 6'0 Forward, Kell HS (Marietta, Ga.)
Stats: 17.3 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.0 bpg
One of Georgia's most versatile front-court players, Deese brings athleticism and two-way impact to the Bison.
"Kennedy is a versatile wing/forward who will be a threat on both ends of the floor. She has the ability to play multiple positions and will be disruptive on defense," explained Grace.
Deese was named Region 6A Player of the Year, earned All-State honors, and claimed MVP recognition at the South Fulton Classic. She also starred on the national stage, earning Kruel Classic All-Tournament Team and Peach State Explosion Player of the Game honors.
Grace expressed, "She is an elite athlete with speed, game IQ, and can score from anywhere on the court. I look forward to seeing her flourish in our program, be a leader, and represent Howard academically and athletically."
"They each bring unique strengths, but all share a commitment to excellence. I'm confident they will exceed expectations, and I'm truly excited to welcome them into our championship culture," beamed Grace.
