GREENWOOD, Ind. (June 25, 2024) – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Committee disclosed its 2023-24 Women's At-Large Division I All-District Team where Howard University saw a pair of golfers recognized for their academic excellence off the green. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon.
Texas natives
Morgan Horrell (Dallas) and
Kendall Jackson (Pearland) were among the recipients recognized for their academic success.
Horrell, an international business major with a cumulative 3.95 grade point average (GPA), competed in 10 events during the year, posting a 74.9 average per round with seven top 10 finishes. At the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship (April 19-21), she was named to the all-tournament team after placing fifth overall.
For Jackson, she averaged a team-best 74.5 strokes per round with seven top 10 finishes, including three individual victories at the SAS Championships (Oct. 14-15), Arcis HBCU Collegiate Championship (Feb. 25-26) and PGA Works Collegiate Championships (May 6-8). Currently, the sports management major has a cumulative 3.64 GPA.
In May, both Bison were named to the All-NEC First Team. A month later, each golfer made the NEC Academic Honor Roll.
The 2023-24 Academic Women's At-Large teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.
Howard Director of Golf
