PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (May 6, 2024) – Howard University junior
Kendall Jackson (Pearland, Texas) sits atop the player leaderboard at the PGA Works Collegiate Championships (PWCC), held at the TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Jackson, a two-time All-NEC First Team selection, shot even par (72) in the opening round with two birdies and an eagle on eight. Currently, the Texas native is in a three-way tie with North Carolina A&T State's Tori Mouton and North Carolina Central's Trinity Ahing after 18 holes of play.
Collectively, the Bison produced a 305 (+17) and two strokes behind Western New Mexico for the lead.
Third-year Bison
Morgan Horrell (Dallas) sits tied for seventh, recording 3-over par (75) with a pair of birdies.
Sophomore
Marley Franklin (Los Angeles) and reigning Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Year freshman
Emily Mayne (Kingston, Jamaica) are tied for 18
th overall, firing 7-over par (79) in round one.
Tuesday (May 7), HU plays round two of the PGA Works Collegiate Championship.
