WASHINGTON (April 5, 2024) - After a long season of traveling, the Howard University track and field will stay in The District to compete in the annual Bison Classic, a senior day event co-hosted by HU and Gallaudet University (GU).

Beginning at 9:30 a.m., the one-day event will be held on the GU campus at Thomas O. Berg Track.

The meet features student-athletes representing eight programs: Howard; Gallaudet; Arizona; Carroll CC; Coppin State; Goucher; Marymount (Va.) and McDaniel.

On April 1, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) revealed its latest NCAA Division I Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Index where the short hurdle (110-meter) squad ranked No. 1 in the nation.

Graduate
Samuel Bennett (Langdon Hills, United Kingdom) spearheaded the squad, finishing runner-up in the annual Texas Relays with a 13.39 time, which ranks third in the country. Rookie
Otto Laing (Freeport, Bahamas) also competed in the Lone Star State, clocking in at 13.88, sitting 41st in the nation.

Zachary Hawkins (Lithonia, Ga.) and fifth-year Bison
Darian Clyburn (Louisville, Ky.) round out the squad with top 45 marks, recording 13.83 (34th) and 13.90 (43rd), respectively.

On the women's side, the 100-meter dash team sits 10
th in the country, led by graduate
Kailei Collins (Houston) and junior
Tiffani-Rae Pittman (Bowie, Md.) with times of 11.23 (12

After a successful week at the Towson Invitational (March 29), Texas Relays (March 28-30) and Raleigh relays (March 29-30), the Bison will look to continue their momentum after being the No. 1 men's hurdling team in the nation.

Sophomore
Temi Banwo (Allen, Texas) secured wins in the shot put (13.03 meters) and discus (41.12 meters) at the Towson Invite. Hatcher took home gold in the hammer, tossing nearly 193 feet (58.76 meters).

For the men, graduate
Ayoade Adebiyi (Virginia Beach, Va.) headlined the weekend, winning the 1500-meter run with a 4:00.38 mark at the Towson Invite.
