WASHINGTON (April 1, 2024) – Howard University women's golf team returns to action after a three-week hiatus, heading to the Lone Star State for the National Collegiate Golf Championship. The two-day, 54-hole event takes place at The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch (Par-71, 6,098 Yards) in Katy, Texas.

HISTORY
The Women In Golf Foundation, INC., hosts the annual National Women's Collegiate Golf Championship, celebrating nearly 30 years. The major fundraising event selects women's college teams to participate and play.
The winner receives the Renee Powell Cup trophy, honoring Renee Powell, a pioneer African American Female professional golfer. The winning team is presented the trophy to display for the year that they reign as champions.
HU will make its debut in the historic event.
TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
Entering the tournament, Texas native junior
Kendall Jackson (Pearland) spearheads the Bison, averaging 73.9 strokes per round. This year, she has five top 5 finishes, including a pair of victories at the SAS Championships (Oct. 14-15) and Arcis HBCU Collegiate Championship (Feb. 25-26).
Fellow Texan sophomore
Morgan Horrell (Dallas) has produced a 74.7 average per round with four top 10 finishes.
Freshman
Emily Mayne (Kingston, Jamaica), sophomore
Marley Franklin (Los Angeles) and junior
Jada Richardson (Suwanee, Ga.) rounded out the lineup, averaging 75.9, 76.4 and 78.9 per round, respectively.
LAST TIMEOUT
On March 10-12, HU earned 11
th overall at the annual Tulane Classic, presented by Chad Brownstein, after shooting 53-over par (917).
Jackson led the way, recording 9-over par (225) in three rounds. In round two, the Texas native shot even par (72).
Horrell finished one stroke behind Jackson (226, +10), registering back-to-back 3-over par (75) performances in rounds one and two.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On April 19-21, Howard goes to Pine Mountain, Ga., for the Northeast Conference Championships, held at Callaway Resorts & Gardens.
